Commercial Design by Bigtime

Commercial space competes with a better option: home, the coffee shop, the competitor next door. We design offices, stations, fitness clubs, retail and residential amenity space with a hospitality designer’s rules. If people don’t want to be there, nothing else works.

Bigtime’s commercial work includes Brightline’s headquarters and train stations in Florida, a national fitness brand, loft residences, a fish market and cafes in Riyadh.

How we design commercial space

An office should feel like somewhere you’d choose to go. Brightline’s headquarters at 3 MiamiCentral is 24,000 square feet above the trains it dispatches. We handled the interior design and specifications with Brightline’s own design team, down to the lighting.

A station is a first impression and a last one. We designed Brightline’s Boca Raton, Aventura and Orlando stations as hospitality spaces that happen to move people: clear sightlines, durable materials and the calm of a hotel lobby.

Brand and space work together. For Crunch Fitness, we brought signature nightlife elements into the gym around the idea of the apex where fitness and nightlife collide, with treadmills that help power the facility.

Rollouts without copies. For Java Time, one of Saudi Arabia’s original coffee chains, the founding idea was variation: no two cafes should feel like copies. Some 35 branches across Riyadh carry one brand in 35 different rooms.

Residential amenity competes with the resident’s couch. At Forge Lofts in Fort Lauderdale’s FAT Village, the shared spaces work like a boutique hotel: pool deck, fitness studio and outdoor dining. At The Queue Residences, the lobby has vintage railroad ties suspended 15 feet overhead and a dramatic check-in desk. The Queue won the 2017 SFBJ Structures Award for Best Market-Rate Residential Project.

Small retail works hard. Tacklebox in Jupiter is a fish market 500 feet from the commercial fishing dock, with gear displayed on modified steel lobster traps and local driftwood.
