Kaboom Nightclub

Chicago’s first multiplex nightclub. This 25,000 square-foot, former pumping station was converted to five mini nightclubs all under one roof. The name Kaboom drove the design concept. The design, much like the name was indeed explosive. Each area had its own name and style. Several of the rooms not only had their own design theme, but separate music and entertainment formats as well. The concept of nightclub design as a roller coaster ride was born in this unique design. The creative use of large over scale interior elements was the first experiment in creating intimate and accessible space. This project also was the first in pioneering construction materials as interior finishes. Creative use of concrete, glass and steel provided a tactile environment for the patron.
