Soowoo

A Japanese/Korean fusion restaurant located in South Beach the 200-seat space was designed as part teppanyaki restaurant, sushi, bar, lounge and bar. Soo Woo includes a 200 seat restaurant and bar with an attached sushi counter. Inspired by the Shinden style of traditional Japanese exhibited in Kyoto architecture, Fortis created his own version of a Kakemono wall scroll. At almost 60 feet long, it is a graphic interpretation and twist of scale and wit, that is not just art, but a nod to Shinden. “Dining is an experience which is about social interaction. The concept was to create the spirit of an intimate Korean village or town square where all generations meet for sharing news, celebrations and just being together,” say Fortis. “The concept is that we’ll all be one big happy family when dining at SooWoo.”
